What does an EGR do?
EGR valves are fitted by manufacturers to reduce the amount of Nitrogen Oxide released by the vehicle. Unfortunately, there are more negative effects that impact the customer experience
- • Reduces MPG
• Reduces Performance
• Increases Particulate Matter (Soot)
• Carbon Build up inside Engine / Components
Carbon build up eventually clog up the EGR valve causing it to stick in the open position, the engine becomes sluggish and inefficient, in some cases the vehicle can become almost un-driveable.
EGR Removal
- The ECU is Remapped and the EGR functions are removed from the ECU software or the valve is electronically programmed to remain closed always. This will ensure no fault codes relating to EGR are generated after the service is completed. We can also remap the vehicle for better performance and fuel efficiency at the same time.
- The EGR Valve is blanked to completely isolate the EGR valve from the intake system. EGR blanking is only required when the valve cannot fully close due to carbon build up.
